The Detail Shop was founded in 1996 with the goal of being Goshen’s largest YEAR-ROUND vehicle cleaning facility. Originally located on the north side of Goshen behind Northern Pride Carwash on US 33, The Detail Shop ran successfully for eight years. Seeking more space and a more visible location within the community, the decision was made in 2002 to relocate to a stand-alone facility at 1607 Elkhart Road behind the Pizza Hut delivery and carry out store on US 33. It gave us more space, more visibility and the opportunity to establish and market our own image. The community and many of our early customers thought that we were a division of Northern Pride Carwash and our relocation was a testament of the community finally supporting a stand-alone, year-round detail shop. Never before had a stand-alone detail shop survived the winters in Goshen.

With additional space and the opportunity to establish our own image, U-Haul was added to our lineup in the Fall of 2004. In 2006, we were recognized as a nationwide Top 100 U-Haul Dealer on three occasions. Since 2006, we have annually been recognized by U-Haul as a Top 100 Dealer; making the list seven times in 2007, ten times in 2008, six times in 2009, three times in 2010, three times in 2011 and twice in 2012.

In the Fall of 2008, with the “Great Recession” looming, a decision was made to relocate again after we learned that we could open a facility in Elkhart which was more centrally located to serve our ever expanding base of customers (both U-Haul and Detailing). With this new location that opened January 1, 2009, we are still successfully serving our long standing customer base in Goshen as well as being conveniently located on a main highway for our other Elkhart County patrons. Our current location is only one block from the city limits of Goshen on US 33 and has direct site of the Meijer store.

Our staff has over 23 years of experience in detailing vehicles. The owner is a graduate of the Paint Bull Institute for Automotive Painting and Reconditioning, has past certifications by Ford Motor Company as an oil change and inspection technician and is a proud member of the International Carwash Association.

We have detailed approximately 40,000 vehicles in our 16 years in business and have a returning customer base of approximately 1800 community members. Quite simply we feel that our knowledge, 23 years of experience, and dedication to quality, consistent results is “Second to None” in Elkhart County.
